India 08./09.07.2019
So Monday morning was as usual, washing clothes, hanging them, serving the poor and old.
Peter, a volunteer from another area of India and I "talked" to one of the residents. He is very emotional and quickly starts to cry. He told us (or rather Peter who translated it) that he ended up here after loosing his family members, and not being able to look after himself anymore.
I have to say, that sometimes it's very hard to interact with the people staying here, for the most of them only speak Hindi and some of them also have kind of mental disorders.
In the afternoon I wrote some postcards. I then went ahead and brought them to a post office. The problem was, that apparently you are not able to bring your post, which you want to send to another country, to any office but only to the general post office. I made a bad job at researching for the general post office and so I went to the head general post office of Kolkata, rather than going to one of the GPO around Kolkata. I could had have it easier...
I had to walk for about 7 km one way, halfway my phone died and of course the monsoon wanted to show it's beauty and it rained and rained and rained.
Eventually I arrived and goty postcards sent.
On my way back I took a wrong turn somewhere so I got lost for a bit, but I found my way back in the end. Added up it took me 4 hours, for a thing I planned only to take about 15 minutes.
Today (Tuesday) was exciting. Many new people from Spain arrived and there were many new people getting to know.
I also got the opportunity to help a physio therapist, who is working at Nirmal Hriday, training a man who had a stroke. It's not that easy because our "patient" doesn't really believe, that he's ever going to be better, but according to the PT he already made some progress.
Tonight we'll go out for Dinner, because Uki, a girls from Japan, who worked with us at Nirmal Hriday is going to leave tomorrow.
Blessings
Sincerely Yours
